the wedding of c&h

These two were married in June of 2009 at the Sunset Room in Ocean City, Maryland. I hadn't gotten to meet either of them previous to the ceremony, since they live in Oregon, so we completely interviewed over the phone. It was so lovely to actually meet them face to face! They're an incredibly lovely couple, and just tons of fun. I had a blast shooting the wedding.

stick a penny in her shoe
These two pennies had the birth year of the couple, and were the bride's "something borrowed." I loved it.

::peek::

Quick, before I leave for today's wedding: a single shot from last night's engagement shoot in Assateague and Berlin, Maryland. These two are so freaking adorable, and I can't wait to show you the rest of the pictures.

senior photos for K

Friday K and I drover over to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware to take a few senior photos. We left pretty early in order to avoid crowds, and I am super-glad we did; that place is crazy on summer weekends! So anyway, K is a killer tennis player, as well as being super-chill in front of the camera, and we had a blast. She'd never been to downtown Rehoboth! It was fun wandering around, checking out my favorite shooting spots, and generally being goofy. I love this girl!

Chilling on the pier. At this point the beach was relatively empty, but that didn't last long.

How amazing is her smile?

class of 2010!
Hooray for the class of 2010! K was my first senior of the year; I'm looking forward to the rest.

It's hard work to get her to NOT SMILE, but worth it, I think.

Yes, she can kill you with that thing. In the nicest way possible.

This has to be one of my favorites.

We love this giant chessboard.

Yes, you saw that right. My pets are once again being used as props. K loves Agatha. Well, obviously.

I'm joining the fight

Normally I try to keep personal stuff off this blog, but this is super-important to me. So here goes.
This laughing, vibrant, slightly drenched lady is Randi Hower Dye, my mother in law. This picture was taken in July 2005, and on March 17, 2006 she died from breast cancer.
You can't see it in the picture, but at this point the cancer had spread through her body and she had to be pushed everywhere in a wheelchair. At our wedding in November she walked down the aisle, though, and sang for the last time in public. She was incredibly gracious, and I wish I'd had a chance to know her better. I think the best thing I can say about her is that she was my husband's best friend. Not many moms can claim that of their oldest sons. When she died she left behind 6 kids and a husband, and the youngest three were 8, 11, and 15. To me, this is the saddest part of all.

So this year, in October, I'm going to walk in the Breast Cancer 3 Day in Washington DC, and I'm going to raise at least $2300, and to do that I need your help. You can go here to donate to the cause. And because I really really believe in what I'm doing, I'm going to give something back to you: when you make a donation of $25 or more, I'm going to send you a 5x7 print from my Etsy shop. I'm not making any money on these, but I want you to have a reminder of how you've given. So when you're filling out the donation form, under "personal note to the participant" write in the name of the print that you want and I'll get that sent to you. It's a win/win situation: you get an awesome picture AND the knowledge that you've helped others.

the wedding of e&j

I'm jumping the queue with these two; they were married this weekend, and I'm so excited about the pictures that I had to share them instead of waiting until I'm caught up with all other processing.
The ceremony was held at Venus on the Half Shell in Dewey Beach, Delaware, which was a new venue for me and I really loved it. It's half inside, half outside, and altogether lovely. The whole wedding was incredibly joyous, and the reception was off the hook! Dancing was INSANE. Ok, enough gushing and on to the pictures.

Her dress was incredibly simple and lovely.

jackson!
The bride got ready at her house, and she has two cats. This is Jackson, and I LOVE him. He's deliciously purry and furry. Romeo hid from me, so I didn't get any pictures.

Her makeup artist was a long-time friend from Wilmington.

The eyes! The eyes!

Like mother, like daughter.

Seriously now. Breathtaking.

They're laughing because the officiant forgot to have everyone be seated.

Finally the rain cleared off, and we got some breathtaking shots.

the wedding of m&s

edited to add: the rest of the gallery is here. Username is "GroomsnameLovesBridesname" and password is 20352.

Finally! This is the wedding I was so anticipating after they booked last year. Talking with M and her mom, I knew they weren't going to be tied to convention, so I couldn't wait to see how it all came together. These two were married at The Fountains in Salisbury, Maryland, and I had never shot there before. It was very important to all of us that we got shots that no one else had, so we actively sought out unique locations. And did we ever succeed! Anyway, on to the good stuff.

Her shoes were so cute I offered to buy them off her.

The dressing room had these amazing mirrors.

Aiieeee! So gorgeous!

Ok, here's the story. So we were taking pictures outside and there was a tractor mowing across the street and all of a sudden the motor started smoking. So the fire department had to come, so OF COURSE we took a picture!

I love this shot.

the wedding of k&e

These two were married on Mother's Day this year on the beach in Rehobeth Beach, Delaware, and it was an absolutely gloriously joyous occasion. I so enjoyed hanging out with the bride and her three sisters; they had the same close dynamic that I share with mine, so I felt right at home. It was also fun because this couple is gooooorgeous.

apparently there were some issues with the belts
So apparently the boys had some issues while getting ready; the belts were all purchased too large, meaning they had to improvise more holes. As far as I know no groomsmen were injured in the making of this wedding.

ring bearer
The little ringbearer got stage fright halfway down the aisle, sat down, and refused to continue. Love it!

This is the father-daughter dance, and I just love the joy written all over his face.
Also, the reception was held in Salero, and it was amazing. Best wedding food this year. Seriously. I can't stop talking about it. Also, the space is beautiful. Yellow walls!

two hot mammas!

Just before Memorial Day weekend I headed up to Minneapolis Minnesota to take some pregnancy pictures with these two gorgeous ladies and their husbands. They're all friends, and the babies are due only six weeks apart. We spent a day and a half meandering around the city, and it is lovely! I'm sad that I can't be there when the babies are born to take their first pictures, but I'm glad I got to take these photos. I had so many gorgeous images that I'm only including a sampling below; check out the rest of the set here.
